This Kitchen renovation project was all about creating a functional working kitchen for a family of five. The layout seemed to work out for them and so changing the footprint was not a priority. Top on the List was this Laundry area. The client and her family needed a larger capacity washer, so we decided to make an addition to accommodate an actual laundry room. There was just enough room behind the existing laundry area wall to expand the interior living space. This meant we had to close up the dining room doors to the backyard to use this space and create a couple of new exits from the Dining room.  We utilized every square inch for that laundry room which was initially the outdoor stoop to the dining room.  Take a look at the before photos and our design plan of action below.

This kitchen went from plain vanilla to savory sorbet! It has so much detail, color and contrast. Now, it truly is just a happy, bright kitchen!

Top on the list was also a Steam Oven (healthier cooking for this family of 5) . So we combined a Miele Steam oven and a Coffee machine next to the refrigerator wall and made the most use of this space as well, including a pull out coffee mug cabinet.

A second dishwasher , a prep sink and more refrigeration for kids snacks and beverages was also high on the list and so we had to accommodate even more appliances in the Island and the little serving station.

This modern farm style design would not be complete without the farm style sink –  so we included one in the kitchen and one in the laundry room.

The star of the kitchen- The Le Cornufe Range and Hood.  It is a work horse for this mom who LOVES to cook for her family. Isn’t it stunning?!

This Happy cheerful family is not afraid of color, so we integrated splashes of teal and yellow with whites, creams, and taupes. We also included mixtures of metals such as brass, stainless, chrome, iron. These subtle textures and patterns are a recipe for a youthful, timeless kitchen that will withstand the test of time. The teal and yellow theme spills into the laundry room floor with a sturdy cement tile to withstand the harsh traffic a laundry room sees.
